AMPERSAND MUSIC FESTIVAL
COCKATOO ISLAND
The aim was to create a flexible visual identity that incorporates the historic and industrial elements of Cockatoo Island with a young, vibrant and leisure loving audience/clientele without adversely or permanently affecting the integrity of the Island. The location is such that clients/audiences can feel isolated in a remote space away from traffic and urban life or as if brought back in time through cultural imagery, restoration and past industry all while enjoying harbour views and listening to their favourite festival beats at both day and night time concerts.
In order to promote and stage this event three key elements of graphics media were addressed, rendering of a new visual identity typeface and logo design for the event that is successful in Print, Stencilling and Digital mediums with considerations for both large and small-scale elements. Laser cutting for stencilling, and projection lighting were also incorporated into this campaign. Aesthetic considerations included a bold 3-colour palette and type with the visual weight lying in simplistic logotype and secondary brandmarks.
